Michaela Coates
Master of Microbial Biotechnology Graduate
Master of Business Administration Student
My name is Michaela Coates and I am a graduate of the Master of Microbial Biotechnology (MMB) Student at North Carolina State University and am current a Master of Business Administration (MBA). I have a strong background in scientific research and I think the next step for me is to hone my skills of business development in relation to science because both are key aspects in being successful in the biopharma and biotech industry.
Career Objectives
As I was growing up I always thought that I would pursue a career in Medicine. When I was a sophomore in college I took the class Scientific Inquiry in Microbiology, which opened my eyes to a new world of scientific research. Since then I have worked as a lab assistant for HIPRA Scientific and as an undergraduate research assistant at NC State University.

I would like to further develop my research skills and widen my scope of business-science career opportunities. I hope the MMB program will help me gain skills in business development. Following graduation, I will start a Master of Business Administration.

My career goals are to work in a business role at a biopharma or biotech company.
